The following are area on-going events. For Jams, it's suggested that you bring lawn or folding chairs and instruments and get ready to play, sing or listen.

Monday

Every other Tuesday, Firkin & Fox, 2505 Manatee Ave E, Bradenton FL.  Tom Kubik hosts.  Starts at 7:00 PM.  You can call Tom at 941-545-5175 to sign up in advance, or just show up.  More than your ordinary open mic.  They are using this to audition performers for paying gigs.

Osprey, Oscar Scherer State Park. November and December: Acoustic Old Time Music Jam every Thursday 1pm - 4pm. Bring your fiddle, banjo, guitar, acoustical instruments, or just your ears! Nature Center area at Oscar Scherer State Park, 1843 S. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, Park charge $4.00 for one or $5.00 total for up to 8 in car. PLEASE NOTE: Due to Florida's lack of funding and cutbacks on Volunteer sites in 2012, Carl & Betty Ross will be unable to return to Oscar Sherer State Park for January, February and March. They will miss seeing you and want you to know, Carl and Betty send all their prayers to you. Your friendship over the years at Oscar Sherer State Park has been very special to Carl and Betty, and they feel it is their loss they will not be returning in 2012. However, they will be "semi-retiring" in Florida for those 3 months and invite any and all to visit at their new temporary residence:

Saturday

Arcadia, Bluegrass jam & show hosted by the Heartland Bluegrass Association of Florida. Monthly camping, jamming and stage show event on the 4th weekend of the month. It is held in Arcadia at Craig's RV Park. Details are available at www.heartlandbluegrass.com. Englewood, THE GUITAR COTTAGE, 530 West Green Street Englewood, Fl. 34223, 941-475-4300 Hosting a Saturday evening jam every Saturday (weather permitting) from 7pm-9pm. Pickers are welcome . Please bring a lawn chair and refreshments.

Manatee Historical Park 4303 Manatee Avenue in Bradenton beginning Saturday, October 8th and continuing every other week (traditionally the 2nd and 4th Saturday) through the winter months. Old time fiddle and dance music jam. Come to listen or play. This is a continuation of the Ellenton Old Time Music Jam, now moved to Manatee Historical Park. Solos are discouraged, just listeners are encouraged to come, call your tune, don't plan to play Bluegrass, all pickers are welcome. From 2 until 4 p.m., bring a chair and have some fun!

Venice, Jam, the Venice Beach Pavilion at 4:00-6:30pm. It's at the end of Venice Avenue by the snack bar.

Palmetto, SARAH MITCHELL'S OPEN MUSIC PARTY 2nd Sunday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. This is a nice party that usually features Irish tunes, Contra Dance tunes and even some Old Time, and usually also some guitar/folk song type stuff. It is a potluck affair, so bring some food and brews!!!!! Sarah also has a wonderful garden in her backyard, so if you are a plant buff you are in for a real treat (plus, she is VERY generous with her plants, and if she has something that strikes your fancy you can probably get a clipping or two).
