A LITTLE HISTORY The Sarasota folk music festival was born years ago at a chance meeting between Crowley folks, "We are thinking about having a folk festival to bring people out to Crowley" and Folk Club folks, "We've been thinking about creating a festival that would feature the talented folk musicians from the Sarasota area." In its fifth year, the Festival is still best described as "A Day of Folk Music in the Country". We invite everyone to take a drive to the country and enjoy the day of music. |

NEW STAGING: --All of this year's Festival activities will be centered around the Learning Center. --Free parking will be close by in the adjacent field. Limited handicap spaces will be available. Sorry, no pets allowed. --Two stage tents, food, beverages, workshops and arts and craft exhibiters will be close to the Learning Center. --Performances will be held on three stages. One stage will be in the screened-in Learning Center with limited seating. As in years past, there will be plenty of room around the building for listeners to set up their own chairs and enjoy. --A second stage will be in the "Little Top" tent, about the same size as the Learning Center with seating for about 50 listeners. It will face the Pine Level Trail that leads to the Tatum House jam and the Crowley Pioneer Area. --The festival's largest stage will be under a 30x40 tent and will have about 100 seats. --The "Big Top" tent will feature many of the Festival's larger group acts. --Workshops will be held under a separate small tent near the Learning Center. |

FINANCES The Folk Club this year has a greater financial responsibility; renting tents, chairs, etc. Here are three suggestions on how to meet our expenses. Please lend a hand. You can help by talking about the Festival wherever you go. Encourage folks to take an interest in the music, the wonders of Florida's countryside and the Festival that offers both. |
Buy Tickets, Sell Tickets The best way to finance the Festival is by selling more tickets. Buy lots of tickets; get everyone you know to buy tickets. Buy some tickets to give to friends. We ask all Folk Club members to help with ticket sales. Festival tickets, fliers and posters will be available at the September 24 Sailing Squadron Concert and at the Club's Sunday October 7 meeting or contact a Festival Coordinator. |

VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are needed immediately to help promote the Festival. Here are the ways you can help before the festival to make it a success. --TALK ABOUT IT- Word of mouth is the best advertising. Become a volunteer simply by telling everyone about the Festival. --DISTRIBUTE FLIERS- Pick up Festival fliers at the Sailing Squadron Concert, Monday September 24 and at the Folk Club's meeting on Sunday October 7 or contact a Festival Coordinator. --HANG POSTERS- Ask the businesses you frequent if they will display a poster. Pick up some posters or print them from the Club's web site. --SELL TICKETS- Contact a Festival Coordinator for advanced ticket sale information. --FIND SPONSORS- Let business and professional folks know they can advertise at the Festival. Festival Program Guide advertising must be in by October 7 and other sponsorships by October 18.
